CITIES ARE MADE OF DIFFERENT LAYERS AND ALL LAYERS SPEAK TO US. SOME ARE VISIBLE, SOME ARE INVISIBLE.
We always associate marginalized areas/spaces/places to the notion of invisibility, as they often represent the parts of a city that people don’t want to associate with, here the notion changes.
Invisible Cities is a visionary concept that leads to the idea that cities are made of invisible layers that are often identified with marginalized and poor areas where people are completely disconnected from the rest of the society and urban spaces. But we know that behind the struggle and beyond the margins there are individuals and communities who have dreams, ideals, visions regardless their status. Disclosing these layers is a way to connect those "invisible" spaces and communities to the rest of the city promoting a more inclusive society.
Invisible Cities is a multitask project born out of the vital necessity of connecting places, spaces, neighborhoods, communities in the urban context where majority of the population live at the margins. The idea is to make the peripheries of our cities central, shifting perspectives.
